Among other things, Kyriakos Mitsotakis mentioned the issue of Freddy Beleris in his statements after the Summit in Brussels. As the Prime Minister stated, the issue does not concern Greece and Albania, but is a matter of law.

“Greece has always been a protagonist in the European perspective of the Western Balkans. We put the approach on the agenda. The approach has certain rules. Each country is evaluated separately. The Beleri issue is a rule of law issue, it is not bilateral. We ask that it be recognized that the mayor was legally elected. We do not interfere in the Albanian Justice. We are always looking forward to find a way to solve the problem in order to respect the will of the citizens of Himarra. In order for Albania to prove that it has taken the necessary steps”, he pointed out.

The prime minister also referred to Greek-Turkish relations, saying:

“Erdogan’s visit to Athens was another step in building good relations. The Athens Declaration defines the next steps we will take. Relations are on a good course.”

Regarding the measures for fan violence, Mr. Mitsotakis said: “When we make decisions we do not take into account the opinion polls. It is obvious that the measures we had taken were not enough. We will continue like this so that citizens can enjoy the beauty of football.”

Referring to the accuracy, the Greek Prime Minister said: “It is the first problem for Greek households. We are putting all our energy into mitigating the impact. Inflation is here today as we speak, in December over €700 million will be disbursed to support vulnerable households. It is a development dividend and we are able to support our fellow citizens. Punctuality is addressed by aggressive market control at many levels, but the permanent way is to support disposable income. Wages in Greece have increased over 20% and this will remain when the accuracy subsides. The government understands the problem and will continue to support it.”
