“We were unfairly blocked (in the EU Summit), but we will continue our work. I am convinced that together with our neighbors we will manage to put the main reasons on this matter
Remaining of the trial (tomorrow) in Tirana of the case of the elected mayor of Heimarra Freddy Beleris, regarding the accusation of attempted vote-buying, the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Ramaspeaking today to members of the special group of negotiators on his country’s accession path to the EU, again appeared unmoved.
He specifically said referring to the matter:
“They prevented us unjustly (s.s. in the recent Summit meeting of the EU), but we will continue our work. I am convinced that together with our neighbors we will manage to put the main reasons on this matter. In no way do we doubt the importance it has for our neighbors and for which we are certainly available for anything that does not affect the process of consolidating our new justice system. Here there is no possible compromise, not because we do not want it, but because the justice we want is more stubborn than we are.
Having said all that, our work will continue, no matter how long it takes.
You should not worry and I believe that we will not waste time, as we will find the “language”, always making it clear, as in any matter of justice, that we do not make any compromises with anyone and for any reason. This is very clear to us. But on the other hand, I think it’s also clear for the whole EU.”
