Proportionally, the largest in the EU, and in fact by far, is the financial provision that the Greek government gives directly to the electricity bills of Greek households, said from the floor of Parliament the Minister of Development Adonis Georgiades.
In his speech on the ratification of the PNP with the “Urgent tax, customs and related regulations”, Mr. Georgiadis said that there are increases due to the international situation, however, “no one can ignore that the government of Mr. Mitsotakis is preparing to spend on an annual basis, approximately 4 billion (300 million for 12 months), directly on the electricity bills “.
In his speech, the parliamentary representative of SYRIZA, Tr. Alexiadis, commented on what Mr. Georgiadis also said, about a large increase in income and deposits on the current government, saying that deposits increased “first” on SYRIZA. He even noted that there are worrying reports on pro-government sites about unpaid taxes of 5.8 billion in 2021, and about 1.32 million cases of seizures in bank accounts. At the same time, he asked the government again for a table with data on the progress of the budget.
Responding to Mr. Alexiadis, the present Deputy Minister of Finance, Ap. Vesyropoulos gave the following data on the evolution of deposits over time: in 2014 it amounted to 160 billion euros, in 2015 (first year of SYRIZA governance) it was 123 billion euros, the 2019 (the first year of ND governance) was 136 billion euros and today, in December 2021 it is 179.9 billion euros.
For ENFIA, which “would abolish” as SYRIZA said, Mr. Vesyropoulos noted that the last settlements of this tax on SYRIZA, brought certificates amounting to 3.1 billion euros, while the first settlements of ENFIA under the ND government was 2.6 billion euros, ie 500 million “down”. The taxpayers they saw for the first time a tax reduction of 22% on average in their liquidations, the Undersecretary noted and added: Now we are making another reduction of 13%, mainly to those who have small and medium property. In the tax returns that will come in April 2022, with the first installment in May 2022 and in ten installments, it will be 2.240 billion euros, reduced by 860 million euros, since we received it from you, and especially for natural persons, reduced by EUR 920 million.
As for the number of TINs of natural persons that were confiscated in bank accounts in 2021, Mr. Vesyropoulos said that electronic seizures were made in 73,860 TINs of natural persons and 7,022 legal entities, in a total of 80,882 TINs. He noted that the seizures in 2017 during SYRIZA were 292,085 in VAT of natural persons and 33,798 legal entities, that is, a total of 325,883 seizures “so that we do not forget”.
