The support measures announced by the Minister of Energy and Environment Costas Skrekassignificantly lag behind the increased energy costs that businesses and households are required to pay, the Commission said in a statement. General Confederation of Professional Craftsmen and Merchants of Greece (GSEVEE), on the occasion of the current announcements of the government, for providing subsidies for electricity and gas.
Specifically, the ΓΣΕΒΕΕ states: The government measures for the month of February are reduced in terms of January subsidies and even more reduced compared to December 2021, although from month to month the bills are constantly increasing.
The government announced a subsidy of 65 euros per megawatt hour for business, industrial, and tariffs, while for households a subsidy of 150 euros per megawatt hour for the first 150 kilowatt hours and 110 euros for the next 150 kilowatt hours of consumption.
The use of natural gas is subsidized with 20 euros per megawatt hour of heat for professional consumers and households.
The subsidy covers only a part of the monthly consumption.
As a result, even this subsidy does not fully protect professionals who are required to pass on the increases to consumers or further reduce their income by absorbing the new costs themselves.
But this is how they lead to impoverishment!
At the same time, the increase in the price of gasoline is pushing many professionals and households, creating an environment of increased costs.
We call on the government:
To reduce the indirect and direct taxation that burdens fuel. Forming them as a percentage on the price allows the reduction of taxes as a percentage without affecting the public revenues.
– We demand that a ceiling be set, instead of the term mentioned in the announcement “regardless of size, turnover and number of employees”, in order to utilize more resources for the most vulnerable professionals and small businesses.
