After the short event was over and the TV cameras were turned off, a small impromptu “party” was set up
The Christmas carols were heard by Stefanos Kasselakis from the “Dikteoi Kastrinoi” Association, a member of the Panhellenic Federation of Cultural Cretan Societies, at the offices of SYRIZA-PS.
The sounds of the Cretan lyre and lute continued after the carols, with the members of the club dancing malevizioti and Chanio syrto accompanied by a mantinada prepared for the occasion: “we came to Koumoundourou tonight to see you and we will now sing you our own carols”.
The president of SYRIZA PS has changed gifts with the dancers and instrumentalists. They gave him a basket of Cretan products and he gave them handmade charms made by vendors of the street magazine “Shedia”.
Mr. Kasselakis, who was accompanied by Tyler Macbethhe wished “happy birthday”, “peace in the whole world and solidarity between us in the Greek society” and “always with a smile”, declaring that he was very proud “to have our Cretans here today, Christmas Eve”.
After the short event was over and after the television cameras were turned off, a little impromptu “feast” was set up among those present, with Mr. Kasselakis and among others G. Vassiliadis, Ev. Apostolaki, M. Kapnisaki, D. Voutyrakou, L. Kretso, with treats tsikoudias and the instrumentalists to play Cretan tunes, reserving an improvised one as well Mantinada for the president of SYRIZA PS: “Happy birthday, happy holidays, Crete is calling out to you, let the prime minister slowly carve it.”
Mr. Kasselakis is leaving today with Tyler Macbeth for the USA where they will spend the Christmas holidays with their families.
