The upgrading of education and training in tourism was at the center of a discussion at a meeting held today at the Ministry of Tourism by Minister Olga Kefalogianni with the Minister of Education, Religion and Sports Kyriakos Pierrakakis.

Mrs. Kefalogianni pointed out that the improvement of the quality of the tourism product, which is the government’s primary objective, is closely intertwined with the upgrading of the level of studies in tourism and the expansion of the skills of tourism workers.

In this context, he noted that ways of upgrading and enriching tourism studies are being considered both in the Higher Schools of Tourism Education, in cooperation with the relevant Ministry of Education, as well as with regard to Vocational Education and Tourism Training Institutes, in line with the legislative initiatives that are taken by the government this time to upgrade this level of studies.

The minister emphasized that it is an immediate priority for the Ministry of Tourism, in the modern economic situation, to strengthen and expand the possibilities of education and training of tourism workers, by enriching their knowledge and skills and upgrading their level of studies in our country.

The Minister of Education, Religion and Sports, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, expressed the will to strengthen the level of studies in Tourism and stated that ways will be sought to achieve the goal.

In this context, he added, a relevant study will be prepared and in a new meeting that will take place in a short period of time, the results will be presented and the foundations will be laid for the implementation of the plan.
