THE poll decline of SYRIZA and the prolonged uncertainty that exists in Koumoundourou for the future of the party lead him Stefanos Kasselakis to move in structural changess. As SKAI first reported yesterday, his decision to rent out his house in Miami and pack his things for Athens emits a strong political aroma and sends many messages inside and outside of Koumoundouros. Mainly to those who argue that the point in time that will judge his stay in SYRIZA will be the European elections. The president of SYRIZA wants to face Kyriakos Mitsotakis in the next national elections. Those around him claim that he is not in doubt and that he now feels the support of both the remaining MPs and the party executives as their natural leader. After all, he showed his intentions, as they argue, with his move to lend a large sum to the party to maintain its financial independence.

He has already prepared a number of changes upon his return to Athens after the Epiphany. As well-informed sources on the 7th floor of Koumoundourou point out there will be a different layout. In addition to the office of the president and the director of his political office, Manolis Kapnisakis, the documentation team will now be installed, a working place for think tanks with which the president will have direct contact, as well as a team of economists – financial analysts since he wants to have his own understanding of economic matters. It is clarified that he will of course have direct cooperation with Nikos Pappas also on the economic issues arising from the Parliament.

At the same time, there will also be a group where it will function as reinforcements for the MPs. He will study all the bills that are tabled, while from January Stefanos Kasselakis will be much more involved in parliamentary matters, dividing his time between Koumoundourou and his office in the Parliament. He also attaches great importance to the evaluation and is said to have already recorded in his “pad” the performances of the MPs, as well as the candidates for MPs.

The Central Committee will convene on January 13-14 where the texts of the Congress will be approved and from there on for a month the pre-congress dialogue will begin until February 23-25 when the top process of the party will take place.

New Left

In the other “apartment” of the left apartment building, in Nea Aristera, they are also feverishly preparing. They estimate that a real picture of their impact on society cannot be had before the end of February. By then they estimate that approximately 50 nationwide events will have been held. The formation procedures of the first prefectural and local coordinators have already begun. Until the end of January, the New Left has planned to proceed to open assemblies with the presence of MPs and executives in all prefectures. High on the party’s agenda and one of the first major battles of 2024 is organizing the intervention against non-state universities.
