Tour in the Municipality of Acharnes carried out by the secretary of PE ND Pavlos Marinakisaccompanied by the Secretary of the Organization Stelios Kontadakis, the Member of Parliament A ‘East Attica of the New Democracy Vassilis Oikonomou and the President of DIMTO Acharnes-Thrakomakedones Petros Marini.
Mr. Marinakis and the party executives first met at the City Hall with the mayor of Acharnes Spyros Vrettos, with whom they talked about the issues of the Municipality. Mr. Brettos thanked the Secretary of the party for his presence, stating that great strides have been made in the Municipality in recent years. The municipality of Acharnes is a diverse, as he said, Municipality and one of the largest in Attica, with great potential for development but also special needs. The security issues in the Municipality were particularly emphasized, as well as the development prospects due to its geographical location.
The meeting was attended by the President of the Municipal Council Themis Oikonomou and the Secretary of the Municipality Giannis Dimitrakopoulos. In the Municipal Council hall, Mr. Marinakis spoke to the deputy mayors Michalis Vrettos, Nikolaos Damaskos, Dimitris Kofos, George Sidiropoulos, Stathis Topalidis, George Petakos, Angelos Arabantzis, Nikolaos Xagoraris, Christina Panatos.
Afterwards, the party executives visited the Officers’ School of the Hellenic Police, where they were welcomed by Lieutenant General Emmanouil Daskalakis. The party executives talked to the lieutenant general about the curriculum, the four schools housed in the area, the student activities as well as the seminars held by the students.
Particular emphasis was placed on the role of the Police regarding the preservation of citizens’ safety and the strict implementation of the law, with the secretary of PE ND Pavlos Marinakis, emphasizing the immediate reaction of the Police to incidents of violations of the law and even in particularly sensitive cases such as domestic violence. He characteristically stated that “EL.AS is one of the most unjust places in Greece. Representatives of so-called progressive parties are trying to convince us that our country is “policed” and that certain – absolutely condemnable – incidents of violence are the rule and not the exception. The immediate actions of the competent Ministry and the punishment of such perpetrators, categorically deny them, once again “.
The next stop in the visit of New Democracy in the municipality of Acharnes was the Center for People with Special Needs (KAMEA) of the Municipality of Acharnes “Arogi”. The municipality of Acharnes is the first to acquire such a structure. The “Help” Association, which was inspired and founded by Mrs. Vicky Elliot, provided two structures that provide creative employment to 35 people so far. The president of KAMEA, Maria Bouki, spoke about the opening of the second structure after 7 years, which functions as a shelter for supported living.
Finally, the party executives talked with shopkeepers and employees in the shopping center of the Municipality and then met at the offices of DIMTO Acharnon – Thrakomakedones, where they met with executives of DEEP East Attica, DIMTO Acharnon – ThrakomN .
The secretary of the Political Committee of New Democracy Pavlos Marinakis at the end of the visit said: “The municipality of Acharnes is one of the largest municipalities in Attica, with many development prospects. We want to be next to the citizens, in every city and in every neighborhood. We want, first of all, to listen to the issues that concern the citizens and to provide solutions. At the urging of our President and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, we are on the side of all citizens, talking to them.
