“Until now it was practically impossible for consumers to compare different tariffs” notes K. Mitsotakis
Citizens are given clarifications on the new electricity tariffs by Kyriakos Mitsotakis with his post on TikTok, emphasizing that from 130 different invoices, now consumers only have to compare 3+1, and that greater transparency in comparing prices benefited consumers in January.
“Until now, it was practically impossible for consumers to compare different tariffs,” notes the prime minister.
The Prime Minister’s statement in detail
“Since the new tariffs for electricity were announced, I have seen a lot of memes about the new way of calculating charges, and I understand that the calculation formula may remind of Panhellenic exams. But things are much simpler. Until now it was practically impossible for consumers to compare different tariffs. Before the intervention we are doing there were 130 different tariffs. We simplified this radically and today there are 3+1 basic tariffs: green, blue, yellow and orange for anyone with a smart meter. What is the result of this intervention? That competition in the electricity market finally worked better. As there is more transparency in price comparison, suppliers have been forced to give lower prices to be able to attract more customers. What does this mean in practice? The average price for the month of January is around 13.5 cents/kWh, while in December it was 14.5/kWh, with subsidy. Here I want to remind: we continue and support our truly vulnerable fellow citizens. But also for the first time those fellow citizens who are heated with electricity with emergency aid that concerns the months from January to March.
»In conclusion, if you want to make the right choices for a cheaper electricity bill, go to the website www.rae.gr and there you will find all the information to be able to compare different tariffs, different providers and choose what you think is the best for you it suits”.
