“Against the background of the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people by the State of Israel, the visible risks of generalizing the conflict throughout the Middle East, the carnage in Ukraine and the NATO arrangements being launched in Greek-Turkish, the Mitsotakis-Blinken meeting aims to upgrade the involvement of Greece in the dangerous plans and interventions of the US-NATO in the region” the KKE points out in a statement and adds:

“Apparently, part of these dangerous plans is the arms race in Greece and Turkey, which have nothing to do with the defense of the country, as is evident these days with the dispatch of another frigate to the “mouth of the wolf”, thousands of kilometers away from the country’s borders, in the Red Sea. These are equipments that, under the responsibility of the ND government as well as the other parties that voted for the so-called “defense expenditures”, the Greek people will be called upon to pay in gold.

Therefore, reports of “stronger than ever” Greece-US relations actually mean that the risks to the people, as well as sovereign rights, are greater than ever.”

“Now it is necessary to strengthen the vigilance and opposition of our people to these designs, to strengthen the fight for the return of the armed forces that are outside the borders, for no new mission to be carried out, for the closure of the US-NATO bases , to stop using the Greek territory as a war base at the expense of other peoples”, concludes the party’s announcement.
