Stefanos Kasselakis concluded his visit to Istanbul with a tour of the Great School of his Genus, stating in a post on social media that he is leaving “full of the hugs and warmth of the Greeks and Turks of Istanbul” and “with the conviction that peace is a common demand of the two peoples”.

Specifically, in his post, the president of SYRIZA PS states:

“I have roots in the City. My great grandfather and grandmother were from there. So I felt excited and “at home” in Istanbul. Yesterday I expressed my gratitude to the Ecumenical Patriarch for his invitation. Today, he came to add to the awe of the tour of the Great School of the Genus. Concluding my visit to the City for the Epiphany, I had a meeting with the mayor of Constantinople, Ekrem Imamoglou.

I thanked him for the support he has given to the Greek Orthodox community in Istanbul, on many issues, and especially on infrastructure issues. We, as the official opposition and personally, are in favor of the positive dialogue, the positive agenda, between Turkey and Greece. I leave full of the hugs and warmth of the Greeks and Turks of Constantinople. With the conviction that peace is a common demand of the two peoples”.
