Later, the head of the Turkish presidency’s Communication Directorate, Fahrettin Altun, in a separate post said that “disinformation is bad,” adding: “I would like to cite an important example of how we eliminated a misleading news bulletin that was served with the aim of damage the rapprochement process between Turkey and neighboring Greece”.

The Turkish official claims that “this news aimed at manipulating Greek public opinion began to spread rapidly on social media”.

“Following the process, our Communications Directorate Anti-Disinformation Center found, as a result of its investigation, that the images were three years old. Our experts, who also contacted the Turkish Coast Guard authorities, confirmed that there was no tension” notes the Fahrettin Altun.
