The Prime Minister spoke with citizens in Agia Paraskevi where he was to visit the “Demokritos” research center
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis sent the message that the New Democracy government will be on the side of the citizens in all issues talking to citizens in Saint Paraskevi where he was found this afternoon after his visit to the research center “Democritus”.
The citizens asked the prime minister the matter of accuracy and he according to ERT, he replied that the government will be on the side of the citizens in the battle to deal with this issue, but also in the health, safety and strengthening of the Armed Forces.
“We will honor the trust by working even harder dealing with the big and small issues that shape everyday life from accuracy to the state of health, from security, to the difficult issues that have to do with teenage delinquency or the strengthening of the armed forces” said, among other things, the prime minister.
Olympic champion Pyrros Dimas, who is said to be a candidate in the European elections, was also found in Agia Paraskevi.
The Prime Minister’s greeting:
“Good morning and happy new year. Dear Mayor, friends, it is with great joy that I return to a neighborhood that I particularly love, Agia Paraskevi. It reminds me, you know, of the days when I was in politics as a member of parliament for the then united Second Athens. In fact, some old friends may remember that I started this journey exactly 20 years ago, in 2004.
I am very happy that in this very long journey, with many fluctuations, I succeeded and kept good friends. And I am glad that today I also see many new friends who support our great faction, New Democracy. You gave us this great double victory in the May and June elections. And you, you know, give us the strength every day to continue trying to improve the daily life of every Greek woman and every Greek man.
I was in Agia Paraskevi today because I had planned a visit to “Demokritos”, the research pride of the country, in which I reaffirmed the very great interest that exists for significant investments in the field of innovation.
I met many young people who chose to leave well-paid jobs abroad to come and work here, in start-up Greek companies, certifying in their own way that, despite the difficulties we are facing, my friends, the Greek economy is now in a sustainable development trajectory.
For us, the economy is the first priority, because if the economy is not doing well, there is no money for social policy, for health, for education, for defense, for security.
And of course, you know very well that the burden that we have taken on, the burden of responsibility that the Greek citizens have placed on our backs, is very great. It is not usual. I will be in Davos in a few hours and I will talk to several of my colleagues, European leaders and important people from the economy.
But, you know, it is not easy in this difficult time to manage not only to maintain your rates but also to increase them. We achieved this in the national elections and we owe this to you. And I want you to know that we will honor this trust by working even harder, facing the big and small issues, which essentially shape the everyday life of every Greek woman and every Greek man.
From accuracy, which I know still creates many difficulties for Greek households, to the health situation. From safety and the issues that may exist, yes, in neighborhoods like here in Agia Paraskevi, difficult issues that have to do with the delinquency of our teenagers, to the strengthening of the Armed Forces, this government remains committed to the implementation of our pre-election program.
Every day we will take steps in the right direction. To mention just one example: two days ago a Ministerial Decision was published regarding the way in which the unified and digital lists of surgeries in public hospitals will be compiled.
Why does this matter? Because it is not possible, friends, for someone who has a means or who knows the doctor, to go over someone else who is ahead of the list. We will make surgeries happen much faster and we will ensure absolute transparency and absolute meritocracy.
It is a very important intervention in the field of health. I could tell you dozens of other such interventions that are taking place. All together, however, make up the image of a country that is changing. It is changing, strengthening, strengthening, strengthening its international footprint and moving forward, despite great difficulties.
And because 2024 is a year which has its own particular symbolism, consider, 50 years since the restoration of democracy by Constantinos Karamanlis, 50 years since the founding of our faction, a year of European elections at the same time. We will certify again, at the ballot box on June 9, who is the great progressive European faction, this is none other than our faction, New Democracy.
I don’t want to tell you much more, because today I wanted to be near you, to shake your hand, to wish you from the bottom of my heart a good year, with health, love, joy in your family.
And let me assure you once again that with the Local Government, my dear Mayor, we will cooperate for the benefit of the citizens of the entire country. There are ambitious plans underway here in Agia Paraskevi. We stand close to all the Mayors, we want to help them, because after all, if the Municipality is doing well, your daily life is also going better.
So again a big “thank you” for your constant support. Have a good year, with successes and happy birthday to our faction, which turns 50 years old, but is younger than ever.
Be well, good strength and good year.”
