The Minister of the Interior tabled an amendment and called on the parties to support it
By Yannis Anifantis
Amendment to the application of postal voting and in national elections for expatriates stated the Minister of the Interior, Niki Kerameos, during her inauguration in the Parliament, calling on the opposition parties to support her.
“The way is opening for the establishment of postal voting for expatriates not only in European elections and referenda, but also in national elections. We are submitting an amendment, already 230 MPs have positioned themselves positively for the letter to expatriates in the European elections. So why not in the national elections?”, asked the Minister of the Interior in her intervention, arguing that the positive vote of the opposition will be a sample of political culture.
It is pointed out that the amendment, since it concerns a change in the electoral law, requires at least 200 votes in order to be approved by the Plenary, as a result of which the consent of the opposition parties is necessary.
The broad consensus on the principle is a particularly positive message, as it proves that for a major democratic change, we can work above and beyond petty party disputes. Beyond and above parties.@PrimeMINisterGR @th_livanios #epistoliki #YpEs…
