With the positive vote of the ND, the draft law of the Ministry of Education, Religion and Sports, which ratifies the act of legislation for the holding of football matches behind closed doors, was voted in the Parliament’s Education Committee, on the principle and on the articles , and measures are taken to prevent violence in the stadiums.

The opposition parties expressed reservations, except for the KKE which stated that it would vote against it.

The Deputy Minister Yannis Vroutsis, concluding the discussion on the articles, stated that the proposal of the special rapporteur of PASOK-KINAL regarding the awareness actions and training on the issues of sports violence that exist and from the very important committee of “St. Denis”.

He recognized that laws do not deal with violence, and noted that what we seek is “to close gaps and omissions, which come from the past.”

Mr. Vroutsis argued that “the bill contributes to the disengagement of the police, in the sense that, in the medium and long term, as the thinking matures, that they see us all and watch us all inside the stadium, criminal elements will be discouraged. That in itself frees up police forces.” He added that “theoretically, the perfect thing would be to have no police in the stadiums at all. In today’s conditions this is impossible. We put the police, first, on the critical issue of surveillance cameras, and second, on ticket sampling.”

For the foreign fans, the deputy minister said that there will be a ministerial decision which will provide a solution. As there will be a solution for the entry of minors who are accompanied by a guardian who is not their parent. As for permanent tickets, he mentioned that there is a possibility in technology to cover this as well. In fact, he stated that he has addressed a question “to Super League 1, about what the PAE want. Do they want the seasons to be transferred or not? If they say they don’t want it, the cell phone will bind them and it will be whoever has the ticket. If they say what they want, there is also the possibility here to transfer the permanents in a safe way and cross-reference”.

On Monday, the second reading of the draft law will take place in the committee.
