Naked, honey-colored body. This is the aesthetic adopted by singer and actress Lucy Alves, 37, for her newest video for “Melaço”, now available on streaming platforms and YouTube. In the images, she appears only with an accordion covering her breasts. “I’m going to smear myself in the molasses of your body/ I love feeling your taste so much”, says an excerpt of the lyrics.
This was enough for him to begin receiving criticism for his “daring”, which for six years has been changing the style and proposal of his work to a more sensual aspect, with messages of empowerment.
“This clip in which I appear naked generated a lot of comments, some good and some negative, sexist”, says Lucy, who recently starred in the soap opera “Travessia”. “There’s no way not to make a link with everything we’re experiencing now, this theme that still persists of judging the female body. It’s the prejudice of those who don’t understand art. I know who I am and it doesn’t affect me”, he says, in a chat with O F5.
The artist remembers cases like that of model Yasmin Brunet on BBB 24, whose body has become a topic among some participants. And, just for the last few days, Paolla Oliveira’s participation in Fantástico, where she said that she could no longer bear having to use filters on her photos to prevent nasty comments.
“If a woman exposes her body more, she is soon judged. Sensuality for me is inherent, natural, but I learned to filter out sexists”, says Lucy.
“Melaço” is the first song in a series of three that will be part of an EP (disc with up to six tracks) that the artist intends to release this Friday (26) and which includes a song with Ivete Sangalo. “What I wanted to bring was a nice beat to dance to, something involving summer, from the Northeast. It’s this mix of Bahia and Paraíba that talks about love and raises the temperature.” The song is a partnership between her and Bahian composer Rachel Reis.
Since becoming nationally known after the final of the 2013 edition of The Voice Brasil (Globo), Lucy says that she has been maturing as an artist and that today she finds herself in one of her best moments.
And while there are no more invitations to soap operas, she wants to throw herself into music. “I consider myself a multiple artist. I can balance my careers. If you call me, I’ll go”, she concludes, saying she is “crazy” to make films and play roles that are very different from what she has done so far.
