“Erdogan’s aggressive statements that ‘the fight is not over by throwing the enemy into the sea’, just 24 hours after the US Secretary of State notified Congress about the F16 sale, confirm how wrong Mr. Mitsotakis is to rest on the Athens Declaration, for a recession in Greek-Turkish relations”, says SYRIZA – PS in a statement, on the occasion of what the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said yesterday.

He also emphasizes that “SYRIZA-PS has warned in time that if a structured national strategy is not promoted for Turkey’s commitment to dialogue on the basis of international law and respect for the principles of good neighborliness, Turkey will return to tension and provocations after he has previously secured what he asks for.”

Finally, Koumoundourou requests “information from the Government if – as she has been systematically claiming for months – conditions have been set by the US to Turkey in the context of the F16 sale and modernization program it approved. At the moment, it is clear that the statements of the Presidents of the Committees of the Senate and the US Congress, in which there is absolutely no reference to the imposition of conditions for the non-use of aircraft against Greece and Cyprus, are disconcerting to Mr. Erdogan.”
