“We are not going to let this case (of terrorism) be revived, we will not allow it,” Citizen Protection Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis told SKAI, referring to the bomb explosion yesterday morning in front of the Ministry of Labour.

The minister spoke of serious and serious criminal activity in the city centre, while children were out having fun.

“Some brazen and dangerous people took an action that could endanger the lives of our fellow citizens,” he said.

“We will do everything possible so that the perpetrators of such criminal acts are brought to justice and punished,” Mr. Chrysochoidis stressed.

For crime

“We have more than doubled some anti-crime groups, the OPKE, which are now deployed in Attica, in Thessaloniki, so that all urban centers so that we can fight medium and heavy crime. At the moment, checks are being carried out at critical points by heavily armed police officers to deal with serious crime”, Mr. Chrysochoidis stressed.

With reference to the policemen’s allowance, the Minister of Citizen Protection clarified that “everyone will get it”. “We are making an effort to increase the income of police officers,” he added.

Asked about the patrols, Mr. Chrysochoidis pointed out that “the patrols are already being strengthened because the DIAS and Immediate Action teams are reorganizing and will multiply”.

“Aim to eliminate crime and create a regime of social peace and security in the inner cities. We are a tourist country, we need an environment that will provide a sense of security to Greeks and foreigners, tourists, visitors, that this country is absolutely safe”, he added.

For organized crime

“This whole case of mutual killings, murders, large-scale criminal activity in the fields of smuggling, must be reduced”, underlined Mr. Chrysochoidis, stressing that “the services are being organized together with the prosecutors so that there is a decisive blow to organized crime, either these are some thugs who continue to extort stores or they are murderers, contract enforcers and smugglers.”

“It’s in the plan to deal with it,” he added.
