“It is a national bet that young people can remain in West Macedonia and not to immigrate, as has been the case until now”, pointed out the president of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance, Stefanos Kasselakisopening his work of the party’s first regional conference in Kozaniwhile he emphasized that the region is languishing because of the unjust policies of the New Democracy government.

Within a decade in Western Macedonia the population has decreased by 130,000 citizens, as the region declines due to violent de-lignification, the deforestation of the public University and other problems, he said and noted that the goal of SYRIZA is to increase the population through the implementation of appropriate policies that will give incentives and opportunities to young people to stay in the area.

For the regional conference of Western Macedonia he said that it is the first step in drawing up a fully experienced separate government plan.

“Many times I meet young people wherever I go, yes indirectly, all over the country who tell me: Stefan, I’m not SYRIZA, but I’m going to you. I like you a lot. And I say to them: Excuse me when you were born did you have “New Democracy” on you? Aren’t you Greek? He says yes. Then on the screen you decide what you want. He tells me, you are right, I will vote for SYRIZA. The message is that there are Greek men and women who are equal citizens in a country with huge inequalities,” he stressed.

“Good ideas are neither SYRIZA nor New Democracy. They are good ideas, and these ideas should be drawn from all of society, not just from the election programs of each party.

And that is why we are here to listen to you and come out with a program at the end of the day where you know how if you trust us and we will be the government exactly what we will do the next day, no surprise” the party president continued.

“SYRIZA has a huge moral advantage, in terms of transparency and its willingness to throw away the entanglement that plagues the country.
