The nationwide meeting of the farmers will take place at 11 am in Sindo – At the same time, they continue their mobilizations with successive road blockades – Open roads are a condition for dialogue, the government declares
The meeting of the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, with a delegation of farmers will take place on Monday afternoon or Tuesday, according to the government representative, Pavlos Marinakis, provided that the roads are open.
“Open roads means open dialogue” said Mr. Marinakis in his television interview last night on One Channel. He added that “we will not allow transportation to be obstructed and the passage of citizens prevented”.
In the meantime, a nationwide meeting of the farmers will be held at 11 am in Sindo, Thessaloniki, where they will decide on the members of the committee, who will meet with the prime minister.
Separately will be the requests of the farmers of Thessaly due to the disasters caused by the bad weather Daniel.
At the same time, the farmers continue their mobilization with successive road blockades.
What will the discussion include?
What the government is communicating from its side regarding the upcoming meeting with the farmers is that the economic data is very specific.
However, there is the possibility ofagree with the farmers on two things, according to what the journalist, Yiannis Kantelis, broadcast yesterday in the main news bulletin at SKAI. First, concerns the advance payment of the excise tax on oil so that the money can be given to farmers sooner. Secondly to facilitate energy especially for the farmers of Thessaly, i.e. lower electricity prices.
The discussion is expected to have two strands, the first will be for the general claims which are the cost of production and the second leg which is the damages caused by the bad weather Daniel. Farmers are expected to ask the government for timetables and the amount of compensation that will be given.
