The president of SYRIZA-PS, Stefanos Kasselakis, visited Volos and spoke at the party’s Prefectural Conference of Magnesia, attacking the government for mishandling a number of issues, in the fields of agricultural policy, education and health.

In his speech, Stefanos Kasselakis referred to the farmers he met a little earlier in the Almyros block and emphasized, among other things, that “this is not a model for the development of the country, that they only come from abroad for real estate investments and golden visas and then, we over here, to privatize universities, without investing in public ones. Should we not invest in public health? To leave so many people without shelter, without investing in decentralization? Let our farmers, whom I met before coming here, be on the brink of impoverishment and at the same time consumers struggling for accuracy? Who wins in the field-to-shelf middle? Why should the oil refined in Greece be more expensive in Greece than in Cyprus, despite the cost of transportation? Is it because we have a combination of a centralized, clientelistic, family-state capitalism, combined with propaganda? 41% is not only a success of Kyriakos Mitsotakis. It is also our failure. Let’s be honest. We lost 600,000 of our fellow citizens.”

And continuing, Stefanos Kasselakis, addressing the attendees, spoke about the party, which “we want to become a party of the members and with accountability of the president to the members […] I want you to be focused. Don’t listen to anything. Don’t listen to the noise pollution.”

Stefanos Kasselakis concluded by pointing out that “the universities that will come will be franchise-type universities and will be cases of entanglement, since in our country we have the extremes of nepotism and that is why they leave to study and do not return to their homeland. I want from you a smile, pride, companionship.”

Upon his arrival, the president of SYRIZA-PS at the Prefectural Conference of Magnesia, also referred to the damage suffered by Volos from the bad weather Daniel and Elias and emphasized that “I came to the beautiful Volos, which I have visited since September repeatedly, it is a troubled city from natural disasters. I had also come with Mr. Famellos and we had seen up close the issues of the region. I see a recovery. We will support as much as we can the city to flourish again and I think it is very important as part of the development of Volos that there is also development of the University of Thessaly, because what is going to happen with the private universities will only make the regional universities wither and that is the last thing a long-suffering district needs. Here I am with Tyler, Farley and we are very happy because you have a beautiful city that we want to support with all our hearts.”

Stefanos Kasselakis accompanied by the member of parliament of Magnesia Alexandros Meikopoulos, the director of the Politburo Manolis Kapnisakis and friends walked on the central beach of Volos and in the shopping center where many people greeted him and took pictures with him.
