On the agricultural mobilizations and yesterday’s meeting of the prime minister with a delegation of farmers, precision and terrorism, the member of parliament of Chania, Dora Bakoyannis, spoke on SKAI’s “Atairiastoi” show.

In particular, Ms. Bakoyannis, evaluating the Prime Minister’s meeting yesterday and the measures to satisfy the demands of the farmers, said that “the Prime Minister scraped the bottom of the barrel for the farmers and gave everything that the Greek state could give to support the farmers. There is no doubt that farmers need support, it is an export sector of the Greek economy and the reduction of production costs is the main motivation for exports and we will see. There are a large number of farmers who heard what the prime minister said and will think about it. So far they have not gone to extreme mobilizations and I believe they will not do so today either.”

Ms. Bakoyannis added that from the information she had in her own district, the delegation of farmers who met yesterday in Maximos understood that the prime minister did everything he could do.

Measures for accuracy are effective

Commenting on the issue of accuracy, Mrs. Bakoyannis commented positively on the measures taken by the government to date, characterizing them as effective. She stated that “undoubtedly an effort is being made by the Ministry of Development to control and crack down on profiteering and we are on the right track to see the results later”.

I fear that terrorism is returning

Ms. Bakoyannis expressed the fear of a resurgence of terrorism, characterizing it as a “stigma for Greece” explaining that “Greece is the only country where terrorism makes its appearance every now and then.”
Mrs. Bakoyannis stated that the presence of Michalis Chrysochoidis at the Ministry of Citizen Protection will be a deterrent for such phenomena.

“The old ones who had gone to prison have tried to recruit new kids,” he added.

About the violence of minors

Referring to the issue of the escalation of violence among minors, Ms. Bakoyannis stated that “these have always existed but not to this extent. A coordination of ministries is needed to deal with it.”

For university admissions

Among other things, Mrs. Bakoyannis described the situation with the occupations in universities as “unacceptable”, even speaking of the absurdity of those who claim that in this way they are defending the public university.

It is logical to have a deterioration in the European elections

When asked about the ND’s expectations for the European elections, Mrs. Bakoyannis stated that “there will be a slight government deterioration as the European elections, unfortunately, are one vote… (soft) since in Greece we have not realized how important the European Parliament is. It is important to send the right message and support political forces that are European and useful.”

For the marriage of same-sex couples

Regarding the issue of marriage of same-sex couples, Ms. Bakoyannis said that “some different opinions were submitted and it is reasonable because it is a matter of values. The bill was voted in the committees by all three parties and therefore has the majority.”
“I used to be against it, I voted against it in the European Parliament, but today I understand that the bill defends the rights of children.” said Ms. Bakoyannis closing.
