The new models feature more power, improved range, faster acceleration and a shorter and more stable charge. The designers of the Style Porsche department highlighted even more the special design of the Taycan and made the Turbo models stand out even more. All versions of the Taycan feature an even richer basic equipment as well as the upgraded Porsche Driver Experience technology with an improved display concept and control systems.

All three body versions – the Taycan sports sedan, the versatile Taycan Cross Turismo, available with an off-road package, and the sporty yet practical Taycan Sport Turismo – will feature their particularly numerous enhancements from day one of their availability in Buy. Four powertrain options are offered for each body type, with options for rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. The updated models will be available at Porsche Centers in spring 2024.

In preparation for the start of mass production, product development engineers and drivers of camouflaged test cars have already covered more than 3.6 million kilometers around the world in a continuous effort to improve the first purely electric sports car from Porsche. The sports car manufacturer has built almost 150,000 Taycan vehicles. The Taycan’s main sales markets are currently the US, the UK, Germany and China.

“With the Taycan, a pioneer of innovation, at the end of 2019 we inaugurated a new era in electric mobility. It immediately proved to be a revolution in the electric vehicle segment,” says the head of the specific model range, Kevin Giek. “Today, we continue this successful course with the radically renewed Taycan. This particular series raises the performance bar, with excellent dynamic driving characteristics and incomparable driving pleasure. At the same time, we managed to significantly improve efficiency, autonomy, practicality in everyday use, and comfort.”

Even higher performance

All the updated models in the series accelerate much faster than their predecessors. As an example, two models with quite different performances are mentioned: the two sports sedans, Taycan and Taycan Turbo S, accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 and 2.4 seconds, respectively, that is, by 0, 6 and 0.4 seconds faster than their predecessors.

Thanks to the new ‘push to pass’ function included in the Sport Chrono package, horsepower is boosted for 10 seconds by up to 70kW, depending on the model, at the touch of a button. The improved acceleration comes as a result of the higher efficiency of the drivetrain. For example, the base version of the Taycan delivers an extra 60 kW compared to the past. While for the Taycan Turbo S, output is boosted by 140 kW with Launch Control, meaning system output for the top model is equivalent to 700 kW/952 hp.

Greater autonomy with an improvement of more than 35% compared to the past

Depending on the body version and engine, the range according to WLTP reaches up to 678 km, i.e. an increase corresponding to 175 km or 35%. The renewed Taycan not only requires fewer stops for charging on long journeys than its predecessor, but its recharging is also shorter: for example, at 800 V DC charging stations it can be charged with up to 320 kW, i.e. 50 kW more than in the past. The fast charging capability of the new Performance battery has been significantly improved. This means that a charging power of over 300 kW can and is maintained for up to five minutes, while very high charging power is achieved more quickly, even at low temperatures.

Therefore, depending on driving style, -among other factors-, it can and does halve the time required to charge from 10 to 80% compared to the older model. In the first generation Taycan, the state of charge went from 10 to 80% at 15°C in 37 minutes. Under similar conditions, the renewed Taycan charges in just 18 minutes, despite its larger battery capacity. The Performance Plus battery now has a larger gross capacity of 105 kWh, as opposed to the previous 93 kWh.

New active body

All models of the renewed Taycan include adaptive air suspension as standard equipment. The new Porsche Active Ride suspension is available as optional equipment for all versions with four-wheel drive. This system uniquely combines driving comfort with dynamic driving.

The suspension keeps the Taycan’s body level at all times, even during dynamic braking, steering and acceleration maneuvers. When driving is calm, the system reduces vibrations almost completely. In dynamic driving conditions, the Porsche Active Ride suspension system guarantees almost absolute grip on the road thanks to the balanced distribution of the loads on the wheels. When the appropriate mode is engaged, the suspension can and does compensate for body roll in the transverse and longitudinal axis thereby reducing the acceleration forces on the occupants.

Greatly improved efficiency

The simultaneous improvement in performance and efficiency is achieved thanks to several factors: the advanced drive system with a new rear axle that delivers up to 80 kW more power than its predecessor (applies to all models), the modified sine wave inverter with optimized software, the more powerful batteries, the upgraded thermal management system, the state-of-the-art heat pump and the redesigned energy recovery and four-wheel drive systems.

The maximum energy recovery capacity when decelerating from high speeds went from 290 to 400 kW, corresponding to an increase of more than 30%. All models now feature aerodynamically optimized wheels and reduced rolling resistance tires as standard equipment. New 21-inch wheels and tires were specially designed for this purpose.

Significantly improved equipment with less weight

Although the weight of the models is reduced by up to 15 kg, the standard equipment is richer than before. Ambient lighting, ParkAssist with reversing camera, electrically folding exterior mirrors with surround lighting, heated front seats, Porsche Intelligent Range Manager (PIRM) technology, heat pump with new cooling system, smartphone socket for wireless charging, charging ports on the driver’s side and front passenger seat, driver mode selector switch and Power Steering Plus steering system: all now standard equipment.

Base models of the Taycan now include adaptive air suspension and protective aluminum door sills as standard equipment. Along with the upgraded equipment, the improved technical features include a battery with increased capacity but less weight.

Even more attractive design

With new front and rear styling and new headlights and taillights, the specialists in the Porsche Style department have further refined the Taycan’s pure design. New front fenders and flatter headlights accentuate the model’s width.

The new headlights feature high-definition HD Matrix technology with special lenses and now illuminate the darkness with Porsche’s signature four-point headlight graphics. The Porsche logo on the strip at the rear of the vehicle features a 3D design with a glass effect. For the first time, it is available as an illuminated version accompanied by boarding/disembarking animation.
Among other unique features, the special Turbonite color makes the Turbo and Turbo S models stand out even more from other versions, both inside and out.

Renewed operating system and display concept

The instrument panel, central display and optional passenger display feature an optimized user interface with additional functions. Steering wheel drive mode selector is now standard equipment. For Taycan models equipped with the Sport Chrono package and the Performance Plus battery there is a dedicated push to pass button on the drive selector switch.
With the new control located on the left behind the steering wheel, the operation of the driver assistance systems is even more intuitive. The Apple CarPlay application has been more systematically integrated into the vehicle’s displays and functions, while the new In-Car Video function offers the possibility of video streaming on the center screen and the passenger display.
