With his post on social media, Alexis Patelis, director of the Prime Minister’s financial office, thanked Kyriakos Mitsotakis and all his MPs who voted in favor of the marriage equality law.

The entire post by Alexis Patelis:

When I was in school I remember the late night TV shows that showed a shadow with its back turned, the voice distorted and the subtitle “homosexual”.

I could never have imagined that years later a centre-right government would legislate marriage equality, let alone that I would be part of that effort.

A big thank you to the 176 Members of Parliament who today gave a resounding response to homophobia.

This day belongs to all those who with their struggles paved the way to get here, but also to the new generation that is growing up with the aim of making our country more tolerant, fairer and more beautiful.

However, it also belongs to the veil group, to Katerina, Lina, Maria, Vassilis, who we have bonded over so many months. Precursors…

Stamati and Eleni. Fotis and Giorgos. Stella you are an inspiration!

But also to Kyra, Eric, Sia, Christos, Nefeli, Nikos, Dimitris. To George, John, Maria, Pavlos, Theodoris.

To Michalis standing rock.

Deep appreciation to Minister of State Akis Schertsos.

But the evening belongs to the Prime Minister of all Greeks, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Mr. Prime Minister, thank you very much.
