SYRIZA, PASOK, HELLENIC SOLUTION, NEA ARISTERA and SPARTATES withdrew from the commission investigating the causes of the train accident in Tempi, accusing the governing majority of scheming and cover-up.
“It is our duty to the memory of those who were lost not to legalize what you imposed today. We are withdrawing from the investigative committee denouncing the blatant method of cover-up by the governing majority”, said PASOK MP Milena Apostolaki, with SYRIZA MP Dionysis Kalamatianos taking the floor a little later and pointing out an unreported process of cover-up and obfuscation on behalf of Nea of Democracy announcing the departure of SYRIZA-PS.
A little while later, Dionysis Kalamatianos of SYRIZA-PS denounced the ND for a cover-up and obfuscation process, announcing the departure of SYRIZA-PS as well: “We will not participate in this effort. We denounce the cover-up attempt and leave.”
It was preceded by the position of the rapporteur of the ND Iasonas Fotilas who expressed the opinion that the examining committee has completed its work: “The committee meets for 3 months. Of the 37 witnesses, all were nominated by the opposition parties. (…) The committee has given the greatest comfort that a committee has given in the last five years”.
Apart from the government majority, the KKE, NIKI and Pleussi Eleftherias remain in the commission of inquiry, while today Thanos Pleuris is expected to testify as a witness against whom a complaint was filed by relatives of the victims.
