His return Gavriil Sakellaridis in politics after almost 9 years was sealed by his meeting with the president of the K.O of the New Left, Alexis Haritsi at the party offices on the 2nd floor of the Parliament, shortly after 5.30 pm.
After a discussion of about half an hour, the two men proceeded to make statements in the peristyle of the Parliament, with Gabriel Sakellaridis, visibly moved, assuming the role of responsible political planning in the New Left. “It is a great joy for me after years of absence I feel that I am returning to my home”, commented Mr. Sakellaridis, calling on “all the people who have been disappointed to join forces with the New Left”. “The New Left both wants and can carry the burden that belongs to it”, he pointed out, avoiding, however, to comment on whether he will be a candidate for MEP with the party.
“It is with great pleasure that I welcome my dear friend and partner, we are here to respond to the great responsibility of the New Left to be the convincing and reliable outlet that Greek society needs. Now is the time to join forces. Gabriel steps into the forefront and takes on the critical role of New Left political planner.” declared Alexis Haritsis in the peristyle.
When asked by journalists how they comment on what has been happening in SYRIZA lately, the two men replied that today they are here to talk about the New Left.
