“On the one hand, no one has a blank check, on the other hand, no one is under a deadline,” said the director of the SYRIZA Committee on Stefanos Kasselakis.
The image of the conference was not good, this is the reality, it could have gone differently, said the director of SYRIZA’s KO, Giorgos Tsipras, while speaking to SKAI, adding that there were previous developments that things went the way they did.
Regarding the climate of the conference, he said that there was tension that could not have existed, as well as jokes that should not have existed.
He added that the solution given expressed the majority of the delegates not to go into a state of introversion.
“We have 100 days ahead of us for the European elections, we can’t spend 50 days with everyone dealing with this. This is the president, let’s go to the next electoral battles with the European elections first” noted Mr. Tsipras.
He emphasized that “no one ever has a blank check, not even Alexis Tsipras.”
He added that the decisions of the conferences have a 3-year horizon, noting that “on the one hand no one has a blank check, on the other no one is under a deadline”.
For Alexis Tsipras he said that he had not spoken at all until now and that was the reason. “Now at the conference he had to speak” he said and added that “in my opinion he should be there anyway. The Tsipras capital is not burnt or exhausted, not only for SYRIZA but for the democratic faction”.
Mr. Kasselakis wrongly raised the issue of trust in his person from the beginning, he commented.
When asked if Mr. Kasselakis will be challenged by Mrs. Gerovasili, he replied: “The conference is over and we are going together at least until the European elections. The crucial thing is to do well in the European elections. The meaning of the decision is to do well in the European elections.”
When asked if SYRIZA is attractive, he answered: “The conference partly wounded us, it did us no good, but we have 3 months ahead of us to correct this image.”
He added that the goal after the conference is a coordinated operation and for SYRIZA to find its footing.
Asked where SYRIZA is headed, Mr. Tsipras replied that SYRIZA must win back the people who voted to the left of ND.
“From the left to the democratic center is the world we are addressing. How a party defines itself is another matter. This was the success of Mitsotakis, the centralization of the center” he concluded.
