The request is submitted by V. Kokkalis, Al. Avlonitis, G. Sarakiotis and D. Kalamatianos, who at the same time refer to the debate in the Plenary Session of the Parliament of the bill on non-state universities
A new request to extend the deadline for submitting the findings of the Commission of Inquiry on the crime of Tempe was submitted to the presidium by SYRIZA-PS MPs.
“Thousands of pages of minutes, as well as hundreds of accompanying documents, make it impossible for the Parliamentary Groups to prepare and submit sufficiently substantiated findings by the set deadline of March 8, 2024 at 12:00 noon, as requested by the Bureau of the Inquiry Committee” they note V. Kokkalis, Al. Avlonitis, G. Sarakiotis and D. Kalamatianos, who at the same time refer to the discussion in the Plenary of the Parliament of the bill on private Universities in order to demonstrate the increased parliamentary burden.
Also, V. Kokkalis had requested an extension a few days ago on the occasion of the lack, as he described it, of a file to which they had access.
The KKE has also requested an extension of the work, after sending the case file.
The SYRIZA request for an extension of the deadline
To: the President of the Commission of Inquiry for the investigation of the crime of Tempe and all aspects related to it, Mr. Dimitrios Markopoulos
Dear Mr. President,
The crime of Tempi shocked and continues to shock Greek society, with the families of the victims expecting convincing answers from the National Delegation and sufficiently documented positions of the political parties regarding the causes, errors, omissions, as well as the general aftermath managing the consequences of crime.
At the same time, as it became clear during the meetings of the Investigative Committee, there is a large volume of testimonies and evidence, while the filing of a deficient case file undoubtedly created confusion in the continuation of the work of the political parties during the study and evaluation of the documents in question. Thousands of pages of minutes, as well as hundreds of accompanying documents, make it impossible for the Parliamentary Groups to prepare and submit sufficiently substantiated findings by the set deadline of March 8, 2024 at 12:00 noon, as requested by the Presidium of the Inquiry Committee.
Given the above remarks and the distinct importance of the final findings, as well as the current parliamentary debate on the draft law of the Ministry of Education, Religion and Sports entitled “Strengthening the Public University – Framework for the operation of non-profit branches of foreign universities”, we request the extension of the deadline for submitting a report on the completion of the work of the Commission of Inquiry to investigate the crime of Tempe and all aspects related to it.
