What the director of the press office of the prime minister, Dimitris Tsiodras, says about surveillance, Stefanos Kasselakis, Tempi and the position of the Church on the issue of the law on same-sex couples
Reform for non-state not-for-profit universities removes an anachronism, says PM’s press office director Dimitris Tsiodras speaking to SKAI and the Misfits. Commenting on the post of Stefanos Kasselakis, he said that it refers to the most toxic days of SYRIZA, and that the law that exists and does not allow political leaders to be shareholders in a company based abroad, was passed by SYRIZA in 2016.
Regarding the decision of the Church to celebrate the Sunday of Orthodoxy in the Petraki Monastery and not in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens in the shadow of the passing of the law on same-sex couples, he observed “that of Caesar to Caesar”.
Observations
In particular, Dimitris Tsiodras stated that “as a government, we have nothing to do with Predator surveillance, etc. Secondly, after certain revelations, we established the strictest institutional framework in Europe in relation to how these companies operate”.
“This issue is not limited to Greece. The Justice is moving to see what has been done in the issues created in the past. The issue of malicious software is pan-European and global, not just Greek,” he said.
“Suggestions of toxicity”
“Mr. Kasselakis has made a very significant slip. The existing law was passed under SYRIZA in 2016, not under ND. It does not allow political leaders to be shareholders in companies based abroad. Has Kasselakis as leader violated this law? I don’t know if he knew it, he must know it, because ignorance of the law is not allowed. But in any case, don’t try to go “over the top” by posting a really vulgar post, because it brings back mud that had fallen on the fan for specific cases, charging the prime minister for things that have nothing to do with it, and with a phrase about the Justice that refers to the most toxic days of SYRIZA” he added. “It does not answer the substance, but also attacks the Justice system in a vulgar way and leaves hints of great toxicity,” he added.
“What will PASOK do?”
Mr. Tsiodras also commented on the call of the president of the KO of the New Left, Alexis Haritsis, to SYRIZA, PASOK, KKE and Pleusi Eleftherias to jointly file a no-confidence motion against the government with his party for the bill on non-state universities .
“It is of great interest to see what the opposition parties will answer to Mr. Haritsis, especially PASOK which talked about non-state non-profit universities and when the opportunity was given in the 2000s to review Article 16 at the last minute did not agree. We saw the discussion that took place in the KO (of PASOK)” he noted.
“The reform removes an anachronism… Greece cannot be the only place in the world where non-state non-profit universities are not allowed to operate,” said Mr. Tsiodras.
Tempe
In the first hours and days, an attempt was made to retrieve the wagons in order to find survivors and bodies, said Dimitris Tsiodras. For official reasons, at the meetings held, it was decided that in a place that had muddy soils, etc., materials should be dropped in order to stand the cranes that had to do this work, he said, commenting on the reports of screeding in Tempi.
“Caesar’s to Caesar”
Regarding the decision of the Holy Synod to celebrate the Sunday of Orthodoxy in the Petraki Monastery and not in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens, he observed that “from the first moment we have “the things of Caesar to Caesar and the things of God to God”. The State legislates based on what it believes is right for society, the Church has its own rules, its own laws,” explained Mr. Tsiodras.
Emigrant email
Has Ms. Asimakopoulou given an answer on the issue of emigrants’ emails, she commented. “Since there are complaints about the violation of personal data, I believe that the Court would start anyway. From time to time various lists, messages, calls come, I receive from candidates of all parties without having given my details. Mrs. Asimakopoulou has been a politician and MP and MEP for many years, and I think that in her office she will obviously have gathered enough information.”
“The issue has nothing to do with postal voting, complainants report that they have not declared for postal voting. The Ministry of Internal Affairs must conduct an investigation, but the matter does not concern the postal vote,” clarified Mr. Tsiodras.
