For her Russian attack during Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ visit to Odessa the prime minister’s adviser, Aristotelia Peloni, spoke on the “Mismatched” program of SKAI. Ms. Peloni accompanied the prime minister on his trip to Odessa.

“It happened yesterday morning, we had a tour by the president Volodymyr Zelensky, in the port of Odessa where he showed the infrastructures that have been destroyed by the Russian attacks. When the tour ended and when we were getting into the cars, sirens and a big explosion were heard, and then the meeting with Mr. Zelensk took place,” said Ms. Peloni.

“Calmness prevailed, but those of us who were there understood the historicity of the Prime Minister’s visit, which I remind you is the first visit to Ukraine and to this particular city with all the historical, cultural and emotional symbolism it has, and what everyone understands is what war means. It’s not an exercise, it’s everyday life for the people who live there, the horrors they go through, destroyed buildings, attacks during the day and night and it highlights the reason why this war concerns us all, the reason why it must continue the support of Ukraine on all fronts and this message was addressed by the prime minister” she added.

Asked if the attack was aimed at Mr. Zelensky, was it random or could it concern the Greek delegation, she pointed out that she did not know and emphasized that “what is happening is particularly worrying”.

Mrs. Peloni also emphasized that “Odessa has a specific importance for Greece and the Greeks, both as a port and as the beginning of the Friendship Society and as a center of Greek education in the diaspora, which was also discussed yesterday that Greece beyond support to Ukraine, intends to contribute to its reconstruction and especially to the city of Odessa and the cultural monuments due to the historical ties”.
