“Ms. Asimakopoulou gave answers and will continue in the ongoing investigations for the complaints about the leakage of information of Greeks who live abroad” emphasized the Minister of the Interior Niki Kerameosspeaking to SKAI when asked to comment on the issue that has arisen.

Mrs. Kerameos, referring to how the issue arose, said that “Greeks abroad they complained that they received a letter of political content in their mail from Ms. Asimakopoulou, which raised the question of where she found their email addresses.”

The minister emphasized that Mrs. Asimakopoulou herself has clarified that she did not obtain the details of the emails from the Ministry of the Interior.

At the same time, he explained that the candidates in national, European elections as well as in self-governing elections, have the possibility to ask the Ministry of the Interior for voter lists.

According to Ms. Kerameos these voter lists contain name and postal address: “They do not contain any emails or telephone numbers”.

He also emphasized that an order has been given for an internal audit to the Ministry of Interior as he said “we also owe a complaint to expand it immediately.”

For postal voting he said 24,000 citizens in 94 countries have signed up.

For the action of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to declare the ADEDY strike against her illegal evaluation in the State, Ms. Kerameos said “I respect the strike and but there is no rule of law when we say that I disagree with the law and do not apply it” and concluded “evaluation is a valuable tool for the public”.
