“SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance will insist that ample light be shed on the wiretapping scandal,” Koumoundourou says in her statement
SYRIZA PS returns to the surveillance case on the occasion of the sanctions imposed by the US on Intellexa, with the official opposition party quoting two press reports today to emphasize that the concerns of “that the list of Predator targets has become a “ball” between the Communications Privacy Authority and the Supreme Court Prosecutor’s Office are verified ».
Specifically, SYRIZA states:
“On the occasion of the sanctions imposed by the US against Intellexa and its shareholders, SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance requested in the middle of the week that the cross-checking of the Data Protection Authority’s list of its 92 confirmed targets, pending for months, proceed Predator, with the corresponding National Intelligence Service contact details found on the telecommunications providers. And this in order to demonstrate whether the same persons who were victims of the Predator, had also been placed under surveillance by the EYP. This, as mentioned, is the most critical pre-investigative action for the certification of the joint monitoring center.
Two revealing publications in Vima tis Kyriaki and Kathimerini come to verify the concerns of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance, as they confirm that the list of Predator’s targets has become a “ball” between the Authority for Ensuring the Privacy of Communications and the Prosecutor’s Office of the Supreme Court.
According to the two publications, the list has been in the office of the Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court since October 2023 Achilleas Zisi, who in the five months that have passed has not forwarded it back to the ADAE to run the cross-check with the telecommunications providers.
Judicial sources who were asked to comment on the development in Sunday’s Vima argued that “in the investigation there are no delays, but there is a need to consider all the facts of the case and the legal issues that arise.”
Since the prosecutor’s office is still in the phase of “considering” all the data of the case, SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance wants to remind that the Parliament has not yet been informed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs George Gerapetritis for the Sworn Administrative Examination conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs 15 months ago and concerning how and by whom permission was given to Intellexa and Krikel for the illegal export of the Predator outside of Greece.
Furthermore, the Parliament has not been informed by the Prime Minister, who supervises the National Intelligence Service, about how Intellexa was found in March 2022 to make corrections to a draft Memorandum of Cooperation that the EYP was going to sign with the competent agency of the North of Macedonia for cyber security (OTA) and mainly about the whereabouts of this draft, which according to reports that have not been refuted, was shared with the then Governor of EYP, but also with the office of the Prime Minister.
SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance will insist that ample light be shed on the wiretapping scandal, which continues to tarnish the country’s international image. After all, this also results from the downgrading of Greece in the non-liberal democracies, in the international ranking of The Democracy Report compiled by the internationally renowned V-Dem Institute of the University of Gothenburg.”
