Talks between the Foreign Ministries of Greece and Turkey – What’s on the agenda
Athens and Ankara they pick up again the thread of the political dialogue with the difficult agenda being at the center of the talks between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Ambassador Alexandra Papadopoulou, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Ambassador Burak Aksapar.
The meeting held in Ankara started at 12:30 pm and lasted about two hours.
It was the second meeting of the political dialogue agreed to be held between the two countries, alongside the positive agenda of the so-called “low politics” issues and Confidence Building Measures.
No statements were made to the press after the meeting between the two deputy ministers and a joint statement is expected to be issued.
The agenda included the difficult political issues, i.e. the delimitation of the continental shelf and the EEZ. Despite the fact that things have been calm in the field lately, slow steps are being taken at the level of understanding in these fields. What is expected today is to make a record of the positions of the two sides and then the deputy ministers to inform the leaders of the two countries, Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who unexpectedly are going to meet at the beginning of May while the Construction Measures will have preceded Confidence within April between the two sides on a technical level.
