Vassilis Kokkalis: “The law on the responsibility of ministers is not required for offenses of omission”
One should not play with the pain of our fellow human beings, said Mr Jason Fotila, member of the ND parliamentarian and member of the commission of inquiry for “the investigation of the crime of Tempe”, a little before the debate on the findings of the parties about the train accident of February 28, 2023. He even called on the opposition parties to “avoid petty political games”.
In his own statement, the SYRIZA-PS member of parliament, and a member of the same committee, Vasilis Kokkalis, said: “On the one hand, the Justice has considered the mixing as an illegal act, on the other hand, the government insists on operational needs. On the one hand, we request the investigation of all political figures by the natural judge, including our executives, and on the other hand, the government finds responsibility only in the station master and three others. The assembly of truth will be dissolved by society itself, which demands justice and responsibilities to all”.
When asked by a journalist if “it is possible Mr. Karamanlis to be brought to justice with a simple waiver of immunity” he replied: “Of course. Because the law on the liability of ministers is not required for offenses of omission. The political system must rise to the occasion and let the Justice do its job in practice.”
