The frigate “Hydra“-which is at sea in the Gulf of Aden- as part of its participation in the European operation ASPIDES, was visited today Monday by the Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendiasaccompanied by the Chief of General Staff General Dimitrios Houpis and the Chief of General Staff Vice-Admiral Dimitrios – Eleftherios Katara.
Addressing the crew of the frigate, Mr. Dendias stated, among other things:“We are very proud of what you are doing. I have already expressed my congratulations to the governor.”
At the same time he repeated: “I know very well and I repeat it to you that your homeland has sent you into a danger zone. But I must tell you that you are here and you know it to defend our own interests, our national interests, that which serves the Hellenic Republic, our homeland and Greek society. And let me also tell you, he added, that for me it was a great pride to look at the mast of the “Hydra” the Greek flag flying in the Gulf of Aden”.
Finally, he wished them success in their work.
Mr. Dendias was informed by the commander of the frigate vice-captain Christos Druga, for her mission.
