The Prime Minister referred to Health, saying that “the efforts in the Health sector are great and something is changing”
“Our goals are again difficult, focused on rooting out the pathogens that hold us back,” the Prime Minister initially stated in his speech and added: “Our priorities are income support in the face of accuracy, decent health and modern education. None of the above can be achieved without reforms,” the Prime Minister pointed out.
“The pursuit of profiteering does not stop”, Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized, underlining that “16 million euros in fines have already been imposed”.
Watch video of the prime minister’s speech:
As for the accuracy, he said that “we are fighting it every day”, highlighting the measures the government has taken to deal with it.
Referring to Health, he said that “the efforts for the Health sector are great and something is changing”. He also underlined the measure of afternoon surgeries, recruitment and the renewal of infrastructure in hospitals.
“We are the faction that stands by the citizen in issues that concern him”, he pointed out.
“Here in Thessaloniki today the pulse of our faction is beating, with an enthusiasm that becomes strength, it becomes the daily inspiration for our struggles, those who, with you as protagonists, in each and every one of them, make the New Democracy prevail in all the electoral contests. Justifying that old slogan which vibrated at our large gatherings in Aristotelous Square: “Every victory begins in Thessaloniki”.
“Our pre-conference procedures for our 15th anniversary, celebratory conference, which will take place on the first weekend of April, also start from Thessaloniki. Where else; In Zappeio, in the place that is so identified with the national leader, founder of our faction and with his historic decision to include Greece in the European Union and it could not be otherwise because this year we are celebrating half a century of democracy in our homeland, and we are also celebrating and 50 years of our party’s life,” said Mr. Mitsotakis.
He then presented the party’s emblem ahead of the 15th congress, saying: “It is a moment that proves how identified this faction is with the course and progress of the country. It is a double milestone that I think deserves to be honored in a special way for it and a special emblem will accompany us from now on. Dedicated to our anniversary, with the symbol of the glorified title of the New Republic, the number 50 of its golden Jubilee and at the top the flame of the blue torch, the one that burns in our hearts illuminating tomorrow.
A symbol dedicated to you, the daily fighters of responsibility and contribution for a better Greece. It is this torch that accompanied us all in our first steps and in our first struggles for our faction. And I think that for all of us older, as well as younger, it is indeed these moments of emotion, as through this image we all feel that we are going through years of an exciting journey. A path that in one way or another has sealed our lives. Full of joys, but also sorrows, of eternal faith, however, in our principles and values. It is a faith that becomes a baton of debt, passing from generation to generation, with stable ideals of free thinking firmly within society and always next to the citizen”.
The prime minister raised the dilemma of June’s European elections and attacked SYRIZA-PS, as well as its former and current president, Alexis Tsipras and Stefanos Kasselakis.
He spoke of “a matchup doubly important as, on the one hand, it will judge whether the country will continue to have political stability, whether it will stay on the path of change. And whether it will finally achieve the goals set for 2027” and added :
“On the other hand, these Euro elections will highlight the political force that Greek voters want to represent them in Europe.
Which is the party that believes in its values throughout time. But also who will more effectively claim the interests of the homeland on the difficult fronts of Brussels. In other words, which faction will be tested and capable of strengthening the national voice beyond our borders.
There is, however, a third dimension to June’s selection. And this is none other than the need to stop dragging the country internationally. Just recently, for example, SYRIZA did not hesitate to even call for the cessation of European funding to Greece.
One of its MEPs, in fact, confessed that he was the initiator of a shameful resolution of the European Parliament. Which stood for what?
Neither more nor less, that the coast guard that guards the sea borders is responsible for every migrant shipwreck. And that Greece is supposedly ruled by…about a “junta”. With Justice not working. And with the press gagging.
In other words, we have the old well-known game of the opposition: to construct a black image of the country and then project it internationally, ignoring the national controversy.
And not only. Because the same persons dared to talk about controlled information. When they themselves live with the fake news of their own “pistoleros” of the devil, who call themselves journalists. And to refer, also, to the Rule of Law.
When Mr. Tsipras first admits that it was wrong to target his opponents with the Novartis company. Like trying to control information with the rigged competition for channels.
Scandals for which, in fact, the Special Court has condemned two of its ministers. The new leader, however, has raised his own flag and no longer agrees with the old one.
Perhaps because he has his own cross to bear with what is revealed about his finances. Because, as it seems, in SYRIZA they made a law against Mitsotakis, but in the end he cornered Kasselakis.
For months, Mr. Kasselakis has been asked if he has companies, which is expressly prohibited by the current provision. And how does he respond? Saying …that he will ask his lawyers! But in the meantime these companies are lending money to his party.
Draw your own conclusions. The first, however, that emerges is that, certainly, such a faction neither the moral advantage, nor the Rule of Law, can make its flags.
It is, therefore, a campaign and a merry-go-round which alone states: that, marching towards the elections, our opponents will increasingly replace their deficit in political positions with vile attacks.
Something that shapes our pre-election tasks accordingly. Demanding that we add to the militancy of our actions and the maturity of our reactions.
Let’s not laugh, then! We will have a head-on confrontation. With a European background, but with a national content”.
Mr. Mitsotakis referred to what happened in Aristotelous Square and underlined that society is the one that must first respond to hate.
“It is not the image of our Thessaloniki that was seen in Aristotelous Square. This city has always been a historical crossroads of cultures and ideas. A welcoming meeting point for different opinions and people”, said the Prime Minister and continued:
“With intolerance having no place in the center and its districts. Of course, the State mobilized immediately. So did the Judiciary.
We have 21 arrests. While those accused of the unacceptable incidents will now be tried under the strictest Anti-Racism Law. But society is the one that must first respond to hate.
Alas if one cannot be a fan of a team these days. To think differently. Or be different. Whoever questions these rights, I say insults Thessaloniki itself!”
