In a new message, the president of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, calls for the resignation of Kyriakos Mitsotakis from the prime ministership and the holding of elections, in the presence of international observers.

The president of SYRIZA made his intervention while he is on leave from the unit that serves his military service and on the occasion of the publications in the Sunday press concerning the tragedy of Tempe and specifically the publication of the Sunday Step.

In order to submit a motion of no confidence against the government, 2/5 of the MPs are required. With the nominal votes of SYRIZA, PASOK and other opposition parties, the required number is completed. According to information, the motion of no confidence is expected to be tabled on Tuesday.

It is worth noting that the statement of Stefanos Kasselakis was made at the same time that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is in a meeting with the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, as part of his official trip to the North American country.

Watch a video with the statement of Stefanos Kasselakis:

In more detail, the statement of the president of the official opposition party:

I intended to address you after the end of my term, but developments are fast.
It has been revealed today that there was a government staged on the very night of the Tempe crime to blame it solely on human error.
On the same night when we lost 57 of our fellow human beings and when rescuers were trying to save lives!
Soon after, the state-parastate gave the edited material to pro-government media, to create the impression in public opinion that it was a case of random human error.
And immediately after, the Prime Minister comes out with a message to attribute the tragic crime to human error, with the next step being the crime scene.
I don’t need to say anything more at this time.
I call on the prime minister to resign calmly and with basic dignity, as befits democratically elected leaders and not monarchs, so that the country can be led to democratic elections in an orderly manner.
With the presence of international observers, because a prime minister under whose leadership evidence of crime is mounted, politicians and military are monitored by EYP – Predator and confidential personal data is leaked for the purpose of electoral manipulation, CANNOT CONDUCT UNFORGETTABLE ELECTIONS without a doubt.
I call on Kyriakos Mitsotakis to rise to the occasion once and for all and answer me within 24 hours if he agrees with the road map to normality that I described.
Thank you very much.

Voula Kehagia: We are asking for elections

On the same wavelength and the press representative of SYRIZA, Voula Kehagia, who stated:

“It goes without saying that SYRIZA-PS will do everything possible to rid the country of the Mitsotakis government. We demand elections. It goes without saying that we will support a motion of no confidence in Parliament for the good of society and the country.”
