The municipal councilors of Freddy Belleri’s faction issued an announcement regarding the latest developments in the mayor’s office of Heimarra, demonstrating, according to the text, Edi Rama’s intention to place a person of his choice in the mayoral position.

The announcement in more detail:

Everything has its explanation.

Rama’s idea to nominate the former socialist MP and native of Dropoli, Vangelis Tavos, as mayor of Heimarra, was heard for the first time in Christmas 2023. Vangelis Tavos, to his credit, then refused it. But it turns out that in Albania nothing is heard by chance. In the last 3 weeks the following happened:

– March 5, 2024: The elected mayor of Heimarra, Fredis Beleris, was convicted at first instance in a trial without evidence.

– March 14, 2024: District Governor Avlonas was suddenly replaced with Vangelis Tavos.

– March 21, 2024: The constitutional court legalized the pre-trial detention of Beleris.

– March 23, 2024: Rama’s chosen one and loser of the municipal elections, Gerki Goros, who continued to be mayor of Himarra for 10 months after his defeat, was remanded in custody.

The questions:

· Why did Rama appoint Tavo as District Governor nine days before Goros was jailed? Maybe to transfer the administration of the municipality of Heimarra to him after Gorou’s pre-trial detention? Maybe then nominate him as a candidate for the expected new municipal elections, after the final conviction of mayor Beleris?

· Why did the SPAK prosecution wait so many months to arrest Goro? Was he waiting for the trial at the Constitutional Court to end?

· Why didn’t the SPAK prosecutor’s office also arrest Artan Gatsi, the husband of former foreign minister Jatska, in whose favor the forgery for which Goros is accused was made?

· Why didn’t the SPAK prosecutor’s office also arrest those who gave Artan Gatsi, husband of ex-foreign minister Jatska, the status of a strategic investor for a property he obtained through forgery?

After these developments, do you still believe in the independence of Spak and of justice in general?
Since Mr. Rama has definitively decided to violate the laws and the Constitution by not allowing the elected mayor to take the oath, we would like to remind him that on December 22nd he had said that he would follow the “best European practices” for the Municipality of Heimarra.

This means only one thing: Whoever takes over as interim Mayor until the release and swearing in of Fredis Beleris, must be one of the councilors who come from the municipal faction with which we won the municipal elections of May 2023.

He cannot be unrelated to the vote of the people of Heimarra and much more he cannot be from another area outside the municipality of Heimarra. The Chimarriotes want for mayor the one we voted for and not the one liked by Rama.
