In the “red” the thermometer in the Parliament before the motion of no confidence was even tabled

Before the motion of no confidence was even tabled against the government, the debates began in the plenary session of the Parliament, with the parliamentary representative of SYRIZA, Nikos Pappa, questioning the way the elections were conducted, triggering his first confrontation with the Minister of State, Makis Voridis.

“As a whole, the SYRIZA parliamentary group co-signs the motion of no confidence and I hope we take the opportunity and have a creative discussion without inaccuracies”, stressed Nikos Pappas, awaiting the submission of a motion of no confidence against the government by PASOK, with its parliamentary representative opposition official to request the presence of international observers in the elections, claiming that “in no OSCE country are elections held without the presence of international observers”.

“In all elections there are international observers, in all of them. There was no violation in one,” replied the Minister of State, Makis Voridis, from the government seats, emphasizing: “In all the reports, the Greek elections were always deemed free and fair. You intend to challenge a decades-old post-colonial acquis that says that the services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs conduct free and fair elections.” He even called on SYRIZA to answer if it is going to question the results of the elections: “I want to ask your party directly. Do you intend to challenge the result of the national or European elections? We recently had 3 elections: two national and one local. These were conducted with the ND government. Did you question their result? Do you doubt it? Something has changed; What are you opening?’

It is noted that the debate in the plenary has started from 15.00 in the afternoon with minor tensions, with Michalis Katrinis from PASOK asking not to discuss the planned bill as a motion of no confidence against the government was about to be submitted. “As you know, the deposition requires a plenary session in progress. So at this time we are offering plenary in progress. As and as soon as it is filed, the procedure is stopped and we determine the start time”, emphasized the Speaker of the Parliament, Konstantinos Tasoulas.
