The Minister of Citizen Protection, M. Chrysochoidis, described the initiative of the opposition parties as pretentious and pretentious, taking a position on the motion of no confidence against the government: It is not substantiated and offers nothing, neither to the political climate nor especially to the clarification of the special issue it invokes, noted Mr. Chrysochoidis. After noting that the only path that can ease the feelings of the victims’ relatives is the path of apportioning responsibility where it exists, the path of justice, transparency and taking responsibility where it exists, he pointed out that “one year later, the responsibilities is still under investigation. Justice has not yet spoken. And on top of this void of non-assignment of responsibilities, all sorts of conspiracy theories finally find room.”

Mr. Chrysochoidis rejected the accusations of a cover-up: “Is there anyone who claims this seriously and with evidence, with evidence, with evidence? [..] We already have 33 accused. (There is) appellant – investigator, European Prosecutor, two experts, European interest. Is there anyone who can conclusively substantiate an obstruction or cover-up argument?’ According to the minister, one can claim it but not prove it. Simply because it doesn’t. It cannot be done, regardless of the intentions of a government. The opposition knows this as well,” noted Mr. Chrysochoidis.

At the same time, as a minister of the government and political leader of ELAS, Mr. Chrysochoidis expressed his satisfaction that “the Greek Police placed itself at the disposal of the investigative authorities, the judicial authorities from the first moment, and will continue to do so until the end. Until the Justice speaks definitively and irrevocably. And for the entirety of this tragedy and for every aspect and question mark that has come up and needs to be answered.”

As for the official opposition’s request to hold early elections with international observers, he said that our country receives a score of 9 out of 10 in the Economist’s democracy index and that “it is not possible for political passion to be combined with gross ignorance and undermine the country itself and its institutions. He even said characteristically: “Elections with observers? Fifty years we have been here, all together. We all built it together and we all fought for it together, our Republic. And this needs a proposal of form.. Not the “editing machine” that he invokes. We will not let lies and falsification of facts prevail, the impunity of the real perpetrators just because some people imagine that they can make a political career on the backs of the people and their interests. Let them forget this,” stressed Mr. Chrysochoidis.
