After the resumption of the meeting at the town hall at 12:00 local time and with the doors now closed to the public, the Municipal Council of the municipality of Heimarra approved the inclusion of the election of a new mayor in the agenda.

The advisers of the Socialist Party, sitting at a table in front of the media cameras, proposed for the position of the new mayor the former deputy mayor Blerina Gorou Bala and at the same time they informed that the other deputy mayor, Pervin Gjikuria, is resigning from the process.

The city council approved the proposal with 15 votes in favor and appointed Bala as the new mayor. The appointed mayor is from Heimarra, surname Gorou, and her husband Artan Bala, originally from the village of Vouno, is an active municipal councilor of the Socialist party. He has been working since 2009 at the town hall of Heimarra as an economist.

The municipality of Himarras continues to be dogged by Edi Rama’s organs for 11 whole months, they write on their old shoes the popular verdict as it was reflected in the polls of May 14, 2023 and they keep the reins of the town hall as loot.

Rama: “The election of a new mayor in Heimarra is a positive development”

A post on twitter about the appointment of a new mayor of Heimarra was made by the prime minister of Albania a little while ago, Eddie Rama. Among other things, Rama attempts to present the appointment of someone not elected as mayor as a democratic process, characterizing it as an election. We want to remind Rama that Beleris was voted by 3837 citizens of Himara, this is an election but he did not respect it.

Here is Rama’s post:

A positive development for the continuation of the work of the local self-government is today’s election by the Chimarra Municipal Council, with 15 votes in favor and only 4 against, of the deputy mayor of the municipality, Blerina Bala, as acting mayor.

The failed attempt by a handful of motivated individuals to prevent this development based on the relevant legal obligation of the Municipal Council has clearly demonstrated the simple fact that the vast majority of Chimarriots do not belong in the trenches of conflict, division and the irrational amplification of primitive strife, which feeds on interests and accounts that have nothing to do with the legitimate interests and needs of the people of Himarra.
