Hatzidakis: The media of our Left passed 14 generations for the 4-day work-With Belgium they “celebrate”

by

The Belgium established the four-day workpoints out the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Kostis Hatzidakis, in a post on his personal Facebook account, commenting that the same “exactly we introduced, eight months ago, with the law on Labor Protection, but fourteen generations have passed!”.

In detail, the post of Mr. Hatzidaki as follows:

“Belgium has introduced the 4-day working week, Avgi, the Journal of the Editors, Left.gr and other media close to the Left are celebrating. What do they forget? That exactly the same thing we established, eight months ago, with the law on Labor Protection, but fourteen generations passed!

I explain: A few days ago, the Belgian seven-party governing coalition reached this agreement to contribute to the reconciliation between work and family life. More specifically, the weekly schedule does not change, which is 38 hours, but the employee can work the scheduled hours for 4 days a week and sit on the fifth day. The employee must request it himself and his employer must agree.

All of this is accurately described by the media I mentioned above. A sense of satisfaction emerges from the style of writing. Why not; The marriage of the personal and family needs of the employee with the obligations of the job is one of the demands of our time. Any logical measure that contributes to such flexibility is welcome, but the question arises: If they like the Belgian regulations, why did they not like the exact same regulations of the three-hundred-year-old “Hatzidakis law” last June?

I am writing this because our law, which provides for the regulation of working time at the request of the employee, as in Belgium, provides more specifically in Article 55 paragraph 2: “In the context of the regulation of working time of Article 41 of Law 1892 / 1990 (AD 101), full-time means work four days a week! “.

Exactly the same thing, for Belgium is presented by Avgi as “four days of work without salary reduction”, while for Greece it is presented that “with an individual contract the eight hours are abolished!”.

And it is not only contradictions, lies, political hypocrisy. The government, the prime minister, and I personally have received tons of mud for this law. With embarrassing distortions, an attempt was made to present that with the measures for the reconciliation of family and professional life, the 8 o’clock is supposedly abolished. At the time, in fact, we were showing that there was a relevant European directive that SYRIZA had signed as a government and that the arrangement of working time and with individual contracts is a common European practice. And even more, when we voted and we will start implementing in a few months the digital work card which is a guarantee for the respect of the employee’s schedule!

I will always remember that an opposition MP had said from the floor of Parliament, on the occasion of this law, that my (dead) parents should be ashamed of me! In fact, as you read it! If I were a Belgian minister on the contrary – legislating the same things – it would be fine!

After all this, I wonder: What is the alternative he is proposing to the current government: Professional pseudology? Political, theatrical performances? Or even more so empathy and hatred as signs of morality and progressive perception? I do not know where they read that they are obliged to always lie. Nor does anyone tell them that hate speech, pointing to third world countries, is a sign of progress. All I know is that with everything I describe, no matter how much I smile partisanly – because we win by reflection – I am angry as a Greek! We deserve something better for us and our children! ” notes Mr. Hatzidakis.
