Turkey posesquestion of questioning the Greek sovereignty of the islands on the occasion of the declarations of Athens for the creation of two marine parks in the Aegean and the Ionian.

According to what the SKAI correspondent in Istanbul broadcasts, Manolis Kostidis in a statement the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs points out that “in the Aegean there are islands that have not been transferred to Greece”.

This is the first time since the great earthquake in Turkey that the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement questioning Greek islands and islets, comments Manolis Kostidis.

“We will not accept fait accompli that Greece can create in geographical formations whose status is disputed”, continues the announcement, while also addressing warnings to the EU. not to become a tool for Greece’s political movements.

The announcement of the Turkish Foreign Ministry in detail

“With today’s announcement, the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it will declare two new Marine Parks, one in the Aegean and the other in the Ionian Sea, within the framework of the Oceans Conference to be held in Athens.

It is known that Greece has long been trying to take advantage of almost every platform in the context of the Aegean problems. Despite the recent softening of our relations, it seems that Greece is taking advantage of environmental issues this time.

We recommend Greece not to use the problems of the Aegean and the issues concerning the status of certain islands, islets and islets whose sovereignty has not been transferred to Greece by international agreements.

We would like to warn third parties, including the EU, not to become a tool for Greece’s political moves regarding its environmental programs.

On the other hand, we would like to remind you that international maritime law encourages cooperation, including environmental issues, between coastal states in enclosed or semi-enclosed seas and in this context, our country is always ready to cooperate with Greece in the Aegean.

On this occasion, we would like to point out again that we will not accept any actions that Greece may create in geographical formations whose status is disputed.

We repeat that the Marine Parks in question will not have any legal effect in the context of the problems between the two countries in the Aegean”.

Turkey blocks and restricts trade with Israel

At the same time, the Turkish media are commenting on the Turkish “block” in the export of certain products with Israel.

“Erdogan is sacrificing the economy to support the killers of Hamas,” the foreign minister claimed, adding fuel to the fire.

The Turkish media clarifies that it is not an embargo but a restriction, with the presenter of Sozcu TV, Fatih Portakal commenting:

“The Department of Commerce announced restrictions on trade with Israel. Mind you there is no embargo but a restriction as trade will continue since they are putting restrictions not a ban and no one knows the reasons why they don’t stop. Israel responded and declared that it will denounce us to the big brother, i.e. the USA.

The war has been going on for 7 months and I don’t understand why you don’t stop trade with Israel. Because you can’t give it up. Why are you putting restrictions and not stopping trade. Who holds the reins.”
