About his touching televised meeting today with Giorgos Papadakis – on the air together after 21 years – as well as his decision to be a candidate for the European Parliament with New Democracy, Giorgos Autias spoke on the Fay’s time show

“Yorgos Papadakis opened a big door for me, I thank and am grateful to him, there was never any competition between us. Today’s meeting was the end of a parallel path,” said the former presenter of SKAI.

In fact, as he revealed, the “contact” was made by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis himself, who shortly before the meeting with Giorgos Autias at Maximou for the announcement of his candidacy, was giving an interview to Giorgos Papadakis.

Regarding his decision to stand as an MEP candidate – and the reasons that made him say yes to the Prime Minister’s proposal, Giorgos Autias replied:

“It happened now because we are going into a difficult 5 years in Europe, especially with regard to economic issues – this is what I know how to do and for the economy I will fight a great battle for the world, as I have done through the show all these years”

“Now I feel mature for this position. In Europe, 90% of the laws that come here are passed, why shouldn’t we be there to do things, to prevent things? Now I feel that I can do it, to be in the European Parliament, let the battle take place there” he said.

Finally, he emphasized: “Whatever happens in the end, I will feel that I have done my duty to the world.”
