The Minister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou, speaking at the economic forum of Delphi, technological innovations in the State, are progressing at a very good pace
The aim of integrating artificial intelligence into the State and the innovations it can bring to citizens’ daily lives was discussed by Dimitris Papastergiou, Minister of Digital Governance and Giorgos Stasinos, President of the Technical Chamber of Greece, under the coordination of Maria Nikoltsiou, Journalist-Presenter of ALPHA, in the context of the 9th Economic Forum of Delphi.
According to the minister, technological innovations are progressing at a very good pace in the State, such as for example the “Digital Assistant”, which receives over 5,000 – 6,000 questions per day, since the beginning of its operation, since the end of last December.
According to Mr. Papastergiou, “the purpose is not only to consume, but also to produce artificial intelligence” and ongoing processes such as Data Centers and the Supercomputer contribute to this. At this point he mentioned that the competition for the Supercomputer is up in the air, while yesterday, Thursday 11/4, the position of Mr. Michalis Bletsa as Commander of the National Cyber Security Authority was also announced, adding that all of this needs qualified engineers.
When asked about the use of microsatellites to prevent natural disasters, the Minister emphasized that need to diagnose the problems before solving them, taking as an example the Land Registry, the digitization of which has begun, consolidations of mortgage portfolios are taking place and in a reasonable period even real estate transfers will be able to take place on the same day. “The profession of engineers is a special profession, it is constantly evolving,” he said, complementing the help that can be provided by new space systems, which give the opportunity to see what is happening on the ground from above. “The solution comes from above. With this system we will have information with enormous precision, just a few centimeters, about urban planning, the illegal use of beaches and more. It is a huge opportunity and a huge challenge,” he pointed out indicatively.
For Mr. Stasinos, the TEE is a protagonist in green digital transformation with innovations that have been established in recent years, such as the electronic system of unauthorized persons, the electronic identity of buildings, etc. Through these innovative processes, as he pointed out, “an engineer can do his job 24 hours a day and not suffer at all, without fuel, without commuting, that is, without burdening the environment.” He also mentioned that in the coming years the single digital map will be completed, where all the technical data of the buildings will be gathered and permits will be issued in a few minutes.
“We are innovating to make engineers do their jobs faster and easier. With modern tools, we will speed up everyday tasks. An engineer is a scientist who is connected to our everyday life. Now we need more engineers, without the engineers there is no development” concluded the President of the TEE.
