What the Minister of Justice said about the police investigations into the case of the murder of the unfortunate policeman and the measures to combat fan violence
The success of the Greek police in the investigations for the Lyggeridis murder stressed the Minister of Justice Giorgos Floridis on the show “Today” on SKAI, stating that the executives investigated the case in depth.
“Now follows the justice which has the file in its hands, fully documented and the interrogation will take the case further. The investigative process will reach the end and everything that emerges will be made public. Everything that is documented will be attributed,” he noted.
The death of the unfortunate policeman was the reason for finding that something is not right”, the minister underlined and added “thus we arrived at a new context with the declared determination of the government to serve properly”.
Asked why the government did not proceed more quickly with the process to combat violence in the stadiums, the Minister of Justice argued that there was a strict framework but it was constantly postponed, citing as an example the installation of cameras in the stadiums.
To the question if the government was pressured not to proceed with measures against fan violence Mr. Floridis replied: “with the state when it decides to do something, no one messes with it, it will flatten it” and added: “this cancer will be eradicated with systematic work and a strict framework”.
Regarding the incident of beating in the Parliament, Mr. Floridis explained that the accused member of parliament has a restrictive condition not to approach his colleague who he beat. He will then go to trial on the felony charges.
As the Minister of Justice said, “these incidents have characteristics of far-right forces. They are carriers of hate. All those with crosses are antichrists.”
In fact, when asked about it, he called Mr. Velopoulos “a great hypocrite”, stating that “his behavior is politically reprehensible”.
Regarding the Spartans and the decision of the Electoral Court, Mr. Floridis said that he cannot predict the decision of the Supreme Court, while regarding Mr. Androulakis’s hints regarding surveillance, he noted that the case is being investigated by the Supreme Court and the government is not interfering .
