Special productivity bonus to civil servants announced on Monday Kyriakos Mitsotakis in the cabinet.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized that new bonuses will be available to employees, as well as departments, that achieve specific goals.

“Our goal is to reward civil servants, who not only succeed, but often exceed the goals we have set,” the prime minister pointed out.

The bonus is expected to be inextricably linked to the targeting and evaluation system of civil servants and its effect is expected from 2025.

“So we continue the course of great changes with even greater intensity and speed ahead of the European elections in June, where it will obviously be judged how strong and effective the voices of Greek claims will be in the European Parliament, but to a certain extent it will also be judged how stable the political scene is so that our country to stay on a path of progress, approaching with confidence closer and closer to Europe” noted the Prime Minister.

He also stressed to the ministers “that we must use the coming days to remind the citizens, so far, of the apparent success of the postal vote, as they have already exceeded 180,000 applications”.

He said that the deadline expires today at midnight and then the responsibility will pass to the ministry to properly process this important new opportunity that is given to citizens inside and outside of Greece.

“And in the leaf trees twhich I see growing even faster in the garden of the official opposition, especially in the priceless promises of our opponents, we have to speak with the language of truth, to oppose the many barriers that we raise to the price increases with extraordinary interventions, but mainly with the permanent increases in wages and pensions, basic pay and benefits. Our goal remains the same: a minimum wage of 950 euros and an average wage of 1,500 in 2027, at the end of the four-year period.”

The introductory position of Kyriakos Mitsotakis in the cabinet:

*Introductory statement by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the meeting of the Council of Ministers*

Good day, ladies and gentlemen, colleagues. The agenda of our monthly meeting again includes many topics, which from different starting points focus on the central goal of our policy, which is none other than improving the daily life of citizens, overcoming pathologies that come from the past, so that bold reforms so that our country gradually approaches the data of the advanced states of Europe.

Tomorrow, as you know, the Plenary of the Parliament is debating a very important bill, the new Judicial Charter, a change that has been delayed for more than 110 years, since Eleftherios Venizelos tried to unify the Magistrates’ Courts and the Courts of First Instance. This major breakthrough is now being promoted by the government, with the aim of speeding up the time to dispense justice by up to 30% by 2027.

The same goal is served by the new draft law proposed by the competent Minister, with regulations that now concern the Council of State, where the faster issuance of decisions also has a direct financial impact on the progress of major projects, on attracting investment, necessary conditions for to keep the economy on a path of significant growth, but also to protect the rule of law. The new framework sets strict conditions, limits adjournments and assigns specific cases to specific judges to facilitate accountability, control and accountability.

Another step is being taken in the direction of a more efficient, more functional state, something to which the new incentives in the State, which will be proposed by the Minister of the Interior, converge on their side. And I am specifically referring to the special productivity bonus, which will be available to employees and departments that achieve specific goals.

Evaluation, therefore, we prove that it primarily has an encouraging and creative character. Our aim is always to be able to reward those public servants who not only achieve but often exceed the goals we have set.

And of course, I would like to take this opportunity to emphasize that the process of appointing new administrations in the wider public sector is progressing normally. It is typical that, despite any reactions or some complaints, they are carried out for the first time, under the responsibility of ASEP, in addition to the examination of formal qualifications and skills tests.

They have already been completed for the heads of hospitals, a total of more than 1,000 candidates have been examined. I think this is also an important achievement in this ongoing process for as objective an evaluation as possible of all those candidates who expect to take important positions of responsibility in the wider public sector.

From the agenda of the Council of Ministers, I would also like to highlight the plan “One Greece for all”, which includes 170 actions of the State for our fellow citizens with disabilities, the Minister of State Akis Skertsos will have the opportunity to present it. A program with specific indicators, specific implementation schedules, which will be centrally supervised by the Secretariat of the Government, having as a central goal during our second term the double convergence.

I am referring to the effort for the National Strategy for people with disabilities to cover the lost ground in two areas: on the one hand, to bring national data closer to European averages and on the other hand, to align the quality of life of people with disabilities in Greece with that of the general population, mainly in the fields of education and work, where unfortunately we are still far behind.

So, we are continuing the course of major changes and I would say with even greater intensity and speed in view of the European elections in June. Where it will obviously be judged how strong and effective the voices of the Greek claims will be in the European Parliament, but to a certain extent it will also be judged how stable the political scene is, so that our country stays on a path of progress, approaching with confidence closer and closer in Europe. And we must, therefore, take advantage of the days to come.

To remind the citizens of the success so far, as it seems, of the postal vote. We have already exceeded 180,000 applications. If I am not mistaken, approximately 45,000 from abroad, the rest from our fellow citizens within the Greek territory.

The deadline is midnight today. Our fellow citizens who wish to take advantage of this very important institutional intersection still have a few hours to do so. And, of course, then the responsibility passes to the Ministry, so that they can handle with perfection this important new possibility that we are now giving to our fellow citizens inside and outside of Greece.

So, we have an opportunity in the next period as well – although there will be another Council of Ministers before the European elections on June 9 – to make use of this time, to explain in simple words to our fellow citizens the adventures that abstinence from on the one hand, a misguided, frivolous choice on the other, without letting the lies of the opposition poison the citizens, nor the individual complaints – which always exist – to cloud the overall course of the country.

And in the “lefto trees”, which I see growing with even greater speed in the garden of the official opposition especially, and in the priceless promises of our opponents, we must speak the language of truth. To oppose the many ramparts that we raise in price increases, with extraordinary interventions, but above all with the permanent increases in wages and pensions, basic salaries and benefits. Our goal remains the same: minimum wage at 950 euros and average wage at 1,500 euros in 2027, at the end of four years.

On this occasion, let me say that alongside our other initiatives, the new version of “e-Consumer” is also operational from today. By comparing prices there between supermarkets, the consumer will now be able to choose the cheapest basket among 3,000 different codes.

It is a significant upgrade that we are making to the “e-Consumer” tool and we will ask our fellow citizens to use it more than they have done so far. Only the beneficiaries will be able to get out, because ultimately greater transparency leads to more competition and ultimately to reduced prices between the different chains

Therefore, we stay by the citizen’s side in every way, recognizing that accuracy is still the big problem facing Greek society today and that, yes, we may not have reached where we want yet, in terms of health, education or state, but we must remember the important steps that are being taken everywhere: from defense, immigration, anti-violence measures, the significant successes of the Greek Police, to the economy, major projects, the digitization of the State.

Our guides are always the verbs “we listen” and “we try”. That is why we treat the vote of the next match as an order for fewer mistakes and more work. The work that we will obviously continue in the coming period”.
