The leaders had a telephone conversation on Tuesday afternoon United Kingdom and Republic of Cyprusannounced the Downing Street.

The Prime Minister Rishi Sunak thanked the president Nikos Christodoulidis for the work he has done to increase the delivery of valuable humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip by sea, alongside the urgent priority of distributing more aid by land.

Mr. Sunak also expressed his satisfaction with the departure of his landing ship British Royal Navy RFA Cardigan Bay from Cyprus bound for the Gaza area to support the construction of a floating jetty.

From then on, the British Prime Minister he emphasized the importance of dealing with illegal immigration and agreed with the president of the Republic of Cyprus that this is a pan-European challenge that is intensifying across the continent.

The two leaders agreed to remain in close contact and continue to work together to strengthen the historic ties between the UK and Cyprus and on issues such as immigration, Ukraine and wider regional security.
