We hold their sacrifice for freedom, democracy and social justice as a compass, said the president of PASOK
Wreath at the memorial of the executed of freedom fighters from the Nazi occupation forces on May Day 1944, the President of PASOK-Movement for Change, Nikos Androulakis, testified, at the same time sending a message in favor of the demands of the workers.
In his statement, Mr. Androulakis noted, among other things:
We stand in awe here at the site of martyrdom of the Shooting Range of Kaisariani. Where exactly 80 years ago, 200 patriots, members of the National Resistance, were murdered by Nazi troops. They were executed by the Axis powers.
We hold their sacrifice for freedom, democracy and social justice as a compass.
For this reason, we took the initiative and filed a memorandum immediately and without second thoughts, in order not to allow the remnants of the Golden Dawn to participate in the European elections.
However, it is also the day of Labor Day, when workers celebrate and agitate for their labor rights.
I am very happy that our candidate for the presidency of the European Commission and member of the European Socialist Party, Nicolas Schmitt, managed on his own initiative that the workers on the platforms, the well-known deliverymen, have full working rights and do not live in insecurity.
We have a duty to fight for labor rights. Because workers across Europe and especially in our country must live with security, hope and perspective.
