The president of SYRIZA-PS, Stefanos Kasselakis, launched an attack on the government for its policy in the health sector after a visit he made to the Preveza Hospital, while declaring “no profit from the NHS”.

In his statement, Mr. Kasselakis accuses the government that “This is a mockery of neoliberal policy, in a country where 40% of the health expenditure is private, from the pockets of the Greek citizen, over and above what he has already paid in taxes. With hospitals that are completely understaffed, with workers who serve their function with great precariousness, with very low wages, with huge patronage. And unfortunately we have reached the point where instead of these people listening to “thank you” from society, people are lashing out at them. For what reason? Because they can’t stand it anymore.”

Addressing the government, he states: “Instead of calling the nurses, doctors, ordinary citizens “infidels” and “little people”, the government should listen to them and finally give the Greek citizen Health as a right. As a right from birth to the end of every person’s life. That Greek men and women can have quality public health. This is what we must do.”

He then proclaims: Out of profit from the NHS, be it PPP or afternoon surgeries. Out of the profit from the National Social Security. Let’s invest what is needed so that Greek men and women can have Health”.

Generalizing, Mr. Kasselakis argues: “It is not possible that human life – whether it is hospitals or a woman in front of a police station or the railway – cannot be just another number and only when someone has a relative MP do we learn about it It is literally necessary, at this moment, to build the National Social Security System. And I am not only referring to the country’s tourism product he can live with his family and especially outside urban centers, which is very important”.

Mr. Kasselakis promises a new model of politics: “We are launching a new model of politics. It is a model that is grounded in society. It is a model that will guarantee citizens that their representation will come in all the time. It will listen and He will be held accountable. He will not make fun of them. The glass tower of Maximus will end. A new relationship between politicians and citizens will come to an end The first step is in our health system, which I urge citizens and NHS workers to go to isyriza.gr, where we have just started a part of the website where you can post photos and information about the problems you are facing”.

In closing, he emphasizes about the official opposition that “there will be a social opposition and a social current and we will change the country, whether the mechanisms of interests want it or not. We will change the country towards progress. With meritocracy and with dignity. Be sure for this”.
